About Candlewycke Manor & Cleveland

The Roots of Candlewycke Manor

Candlewycke Manor Bed & Breakfast opened six years ago with the inspiration of Wacoe Lineberry. As a pastor's wife, Wacoe has enjoyed serving people throughout her life. After the death of her husband, Paul, Wacoe went back into the workforce and served as a cook and hostess for a community hospital in Virginia. Now in retirement, Wacoe has decided to continue serving her family and other people; hence, Candlewycke Manor. Wacoe's dream was a contagious one, and she is now a joint owner/innkeeper of Candlewycke Manor along with her daughter and son-in-law, Regenia and Herschel Collier.

About Cleveland, Tennessee

In 1836, the city of Cleveland consisted of one small log cabin located in the heart of the Cherokee Nation. The Ocoee Purchase Treaty was made with the Cherokee Indians, and Bradley County was born, named in honor of Col. Edward Bradley. Bradley served with honor under Andrew Jackson in the War of 1812 and was a personal friend of Jackson. That same act specified that the county seat should bear the name of Cleveland in honor of Col. Benjamin Cleveland, a Revolutionary War hero.

Full of history, Cleveland is situated in the beautiful Ocoee Region of Southeast Tennessee. Chattanooga is less than thirty minutes away and is home of the multi-million dollar Tennessee Aquarium, the popular Incline Railway, the Southern Belle Riverboat, the Chattanooga Choo-Choo and, of course, the famous Rock City Gardens and Lover's Leap atop Lookout Mountain.

The forests, mountain lakes, and cool breezes of our region are extremely inviting for those special getaways. You can enjoy boating, horseback riding, and hiking, or go to the famous Ocoee River for rafting on the white waters. For a slower pace, you might want to relax and take in the panoramic view from atop Chilhowee Mountain or take a trip to sail the Lost Sea, a U.S. registered Natural Landmark in nearby Sweetwater. We are even close enough to the Cherokee National Forest and the Great Smoky Mountains for you to enjoy a day trip.
